Outdoor Program
The mission of University Prep’s Outdoor Education Program is to offer students and community members sustainable, environmentally conscious, local outdoor experiences that provide further opportunities to become socially responsible citizens of the world. In the Middle School, Outdoor Education is integrated into the curriculum. Outdoor experiences occur by grade level and increase in duration and expand in type as the students move through the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. In the Upper School, Outdoor Education is not integrated into the curriculum; however, week-long spring break and summer wilderness experiences are available to students who choose to pursue them.
Our program practices Leave No Trace ethics in all of our sponsored activities whether they be at school or in the wilderness. Our dedication to Leave No Trace ethics and sustainability extend to all facets of the program; we try to keep our footprint as small as possible in the urban environment as well as the wilderness. By using local destinations and facilities, fees for students and the environmental impact of our travel are kept to a minimum.
For information about current and future trips and offerings, including how to sign up, please follow the Quick Link to Moodle, log on with your student username and password, and click on Outdoor Education Calendar.
