Service Learning

University Prep strongly believes that service benefits the individual who performs the service as well as the recipient.  Therefore we are committed to providing opportunities for students to engage in service that is direct in its nature in the hopes of encouraging lifelong connections to service.

Middle School service learning is integrated into the core subject curriculum. Students engage in direct service throughout the school year as part of their regular school day.

In the Upper School, the service requirement entails the completion of fifteen hours of direct action service per year. At least fifteen hours of service earns the student a passing grade (the service requirement is graded on a pass/fail basis) on his or her transcript.

Students may participate in service projects set up on their own or may choose to serve with their peers in one of the many Service Saturday opportunities made available through the Key Club, National Honor Society or Upper School Dean of Students Office.
