This fall, we are excited to welcome new faculty and staff members to the UPrep community. The knowledge and enthusiasm they bring to our school are impressive. Below, we share a bit of their stories with you.
Erika Almanza Brown, Annual Giving Manager, has several years of experience as an educator, including her work as an enrichment tutor for her own business, as a teacher at Christ the King School, and as associate director at Pinnacle Exploration Outdoor School. She was also a founding board co-president for the La Isla Foundation in Seattle. She has a BA in sociology from Grinnell College, a MA in teaching from American University, and is currently getting her second master’s degree in nonprofit leadership from Seattle University. When you meet her, ask her about her “20 Days to Celebrate 20” celebration.
Kathy Crow, Facilities Maintenance Technician,has worked as an engineer at the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass, as an event operation assistant at Friends of Waterfront Seattle, and as a welder and mechanic at Controlled Access. She has earned several certificates in her field, including in welding, bulldozer, and large excavator operation. When you meet her, ask her about early 2000s pop punk music or amateur adventuring.
Brianna Corcoran, Middle School English Teacher,previously was a 6th grade language arts teacher at Nelsen Middle School in Renton and Fuller Middle School in Framingham, Massachusetts. She obtained a BA in English and political science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a master’s in education from Framingham State University. When you meet her, ask what book she’s reading.
Rusell Cuya, Upper School Math Teacher,has taught high school math at Wahluke High School in Quincy, Washington, at Charlotte Amalie High School in the U.S Virgin Islands, and Manila Cathedral School in the Philippines. He was also a college math instructor at Colegio de San Juan de Letran in the Philippines. He earned his BA in science and MA in mathematics education at Philippine Normal University, and a doctor of education at National University in the Philippines. When you meet him, ask him about Harry, his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Harry thinks he's royalty!
Tilden Daniels, French Teacher, has previously worked as a French teacher at Hopkins School in New Haven, Connecticut. He also served as the modern language department chair and assistant coach of cross-country track and field. He completed his undergraduate education at Bowdoin College with a major in French and earned a PhD in French at the University of Pennsylvania. When you meet him, ask him about living in Switzerland.
Lori Engdahl, Accounting Assistant, previously worked as the assistant director at Whittier Kids at Whittier Elementary. In addition, she is the co-owner and office manager of Lantern Brewery in North Seattle. Lori holds a BA in sociology with minors in philosophy and gender studies from the University of Washington. When you meet her ask her about her cast iron letterpress!
Mark Fadool, Director of Wellness, previously served as the chief program officer at Childhaven, the clinical director of Behavioral Health Services at Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic, and as a mental health therapist at Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic. He earned a BA in sociology at Principia College, and an MA in counseling at Southern Illinois University. When you meet him, ask him about the intersection of wellness and youth sports, along with his role on the King County Play Equity Coalition Board.
Chuck Goodman, Assistant Director of Admission for Outreach and Engagement, has previously taken on many leadership roles, including managing director of programs and senior program director at Harlem Lacrosse. Additionally, he has experience as a learning resources teacher at Eastside Catholic School. He holds a BA in English literature and community recreation from Western Washington University. When you meet him, ask him about all the places he’s lived and visited.
Amelia Gregorio, Middle School History Teacher, was previously a teacher intern at Nathan Hale Highschool, where she co-taught World History. She has also been a coach at Lindbergh High School. She obtained a master’s in teaching at the University of Washington and a BA in history from Whittier College. When you meet her, ask her about water polo—playing it, coaching it, and watching it.
Cora Hofstetter, Upper and Middle School Spanish Teacher, worked as a world language teacher at North County High School in Maryland, and was a summer camp teacher at TerpsTalk in Maryland. She earned her master’s in teaching, foreign language education, at the University of Pittsburgh, and a BA in English at the College of Wooster. When you meet her, ask her about textile arts.
Marcie Henricks, Development Event and Community Engagement Coordinator,previously was the Obliteride events coordinator at Fred Hutch Cancer Center, and the operations coordinator for the Seattle Sounders. She earned her BA in communication and marketing at Seattle Pacific University. When you meet her, ask her about her love of board games and how she is creating her own board game.
