Neighborhood Pop-Ups Are a Hit!

Neighborhood pop-ups are an opportunity to connect with parents across grade levels and interests.

Tracy Pozil, Parent Council Middle School Vice President

On Saturday, February 23, UPrep parents from Ballard, Magnolia, and Queen Anne zip codes gathered at The Shelter for the school's third "Pop-Up Neighborhood Social" this year.

This new local social format is catching on! More than 40 Pumas attended, representing all grades at University Prep. The event draw, many said, was the opportunity to connect with parents across their kids' grade-levels and interests--folks they would not otherwise meet at social events, performances, or sports games. Other parents came with a goal in mind. "I came to find carpool buddies for my son's spring sports team!" confessed one mom. "There were more people here that I didn't know than I did know," shared a seven-year veteran with kids in three grades.

Thanks to the Dutton, Johnson, Morgan, Morrissey, Rothman, Tighlman, and Webster families for helping spread the word about the event. Hats off to Asha Dean, UPrep Associate Director of Upper School Admission and Community Engagement for the inspiration and coordination of these special UPrep events!

We hope many of you will come out to our next Neighborhood Pop-Up, scheduled to take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m.on Saturday, March 30, at the Magnuson Cafe and Brewery.
