Next Friday, March 6, our community will come together at our annual fundraiser, UPrep Together. In anticipation of this festive evening, I wanted to share with you why I look forward to this opportunity to help grow our Financial Aid Endowment Fund.

As part of UPrep’s mission, we seek to create an inclusive, diverse student community. For some students, affording the full cost of attendance is not possible. This means that financial aid is a basic component of our mission, allowing our school to welcome students from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds. For the 2019-20 academic year, we awarded $3.2M in need-based financial aid to over 15 percent of our enrolled students with grants ranging from $10,000 to $36,000.

I believe having a diverse student body benefits our entire community. And I’m glad to know that the comprehensive nature of our financial aid program means every student can access all the benefits that come with an UPrep education. A lot of the learning in our Middle and Upper schools happens outside of the classroom. Our financial aid program covers tuition and all fees associated with the UPrep experience, including textbooks, lunch, transportation, technology, field trips and retreats, and experiences like a Global Link trip to India and co-curricular activities like Ski Bus.

I am also pleased to announce that an alumni family who shares our commitment to equity, access, and inclusion, has offered a $200,000 challenge opportunity for our event! Donations up to $7,500 will be matched dollar for dollar for a total of $200,000. This incredible gesture shows the generous spirit of the UPrep community and I hope we will take full advantage of this match.

Last year, our community raised more than $500,000 dollars for our Financial Aid Endowment at the UPrep Together event and we hope to surpass that total this year. I look forward to celebrating our community and seeing you at UPrep Together!
