Angst Screening and Mental Health Panel, April 19

Please join us for a screening of the documentary Angst, which explores the recent rise of anxiety in teenagers. The film seeks to educate a wide audience about how young people experience anxiety and ways they can cope. Upper school students will be viewing Angst next week, so this is a great opportunity for parents to know what their students will be discussing.

Immediately following the film, a panel of mental health experts from the University of Washington will be discussing how families can support their children in managing anxiety. Joining us will be:

  • Dr. Laura Kastner, who is featured in the film. She is a nationally recognized child psychologist, parenting expert, and Clinical Professor at UW Psychiatry.
  • Aaron Lyon, PhD, who is the director of the School Mental Health Assessment, Research and Training (SMART) Center and a leading researcher in school- and community-based mental health programs.
  • Janine Jones, PhD, an Associate Professor in the UW College of Education. Her work focuses on providing culturally responsive mental health services in schools.
We look forward to seeing you at 7:00 p.m. (refreshments at 6:30) in Founders Hall.
